Description

This unit enables students to develop independent research and communication skills whilst investigating a topic of specific relevance to their chosen degree. The research conducted - whether text, fieldwork or laboratory-based - will be determined by the topic choice and disciplinary area. Likewise, the presentation of research findings may take the form of an extended essay, project or experimental report. The unit increases awareness of disciplinary practices typical of each student's chosen degree, and of their preparedness to progress. Topics are agreed with a supervising tutor, who will usually be associated with the department to which each student is due to progress.
